Pay attention: All youth education is in Dutch only.
We are excited to share our passion for astronomy with children and young people. In consultation with the teacher, we can arrange a presentation at school or at the observatory.
With children from grades 3 to 6, we take them on a journey through our solar system and explore the sun, moon, and planets, among other things.
For grades 7 and 8, the focus is more on a brief introduction to astronomy, including topics such as the Milky Way, our sun, comets, and the operation of telescopes.
Please note: There is a maximum limit of 30 people for groups visiting the observatory. This number includes both children and parents/guardians.
For schools we have a price of €65,- per visit, both to schools or at the obsevatory.
When we are open to the public, we do not accommodate groups and schools.
Outside of school you're also able to visit our observatory with a group of children, up to an age of 12.
The cost is €3 per child, €5 per parent/guardian, with a minimum cost of €60 per group.
Questions about the activity or would you like to register? Send an email to jeugd@sterrenwachtcopernicus.nl.
As an adolescent, you can become a volunteer with us starting at the age of 16, initially under supervision and later independently using our telescope.
For activities, you can become a member of the JWG, which organizes activities throughout the year in the Netherlands for adolescents with an interest in astronomy.
