Become a donor
Since 2016, we no longer receive any subsidies. Therefore, we rely on donations to sustain our existence.
You can support the observatory by becoming a donor. After signing up you will receieve a letter or email at the start of each year asking you to transfer your donation. On average, donors support us with a contribution of €50 per year.
What we do with your donation
We use your donation to organize activities at the observatory, such as public evenings, lectures, and youth activities. With your donation, you help us maintain the observatory, acquire new materials and equipment, and develop educational resources.
What you will get as a donor
Each quarter, you will receive our digital magazine Copernicus Contacten. Additionally, we aim to open specifically for donors approximately 2 times a year during Donor events. Moreover, you will get a discount on the entrance fee of our lectures. Here you can read how to use this discount code.
You will receive the digital magazine "Copernicus Contacten" four times a year. With this magazine, we keep you informed about the activities organized at the observatory and provide descriptions of noteworthy astronomical and meteorological events.
You will receive all these information via email. If you are a donor but haven't received anything, it is likely that we do not have your email address. Please contact penningmeester@sterrenwachtcopernicus.nl, and we will ensure that this is rectified.
ANBI Non Profit
Volkssterrenwacht Copernicus is a Non Profit organization that has been recognized by the Tax Authorities as an "Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling" (ANBI), which translates to a Public Benefit Organization. This means that:
We have no profit motive.
Our financial administration is in order.
We publish our annual report on our website.
We have a solid policy plan.

One time donation
If you prefer not to register as a regular donor but would still like to make a one-time donation, you can do so by visiting our observatory or using the following link. Please note that one-time donations do not come with additional donor benefits such as priority access to lectures or special donor events. Nevertheless, we greatly appreciate your donation!
