Agenda

Friday 9 January 20:00 - 23:00

Star viewing night

Every week we are open on fridays to look at the stars, if the weather allows us. More information.

Rush

It gets busy more often on clear nights. Especially between 20:00 and 21:30 there can be long queues. When visiting after 21:30 there is more time to enjoy the stars.

Tonight in the sky

If the weather allows us, we will aim our telescope at planets Saturn and Jupiter, large star clusters, and nebula.

Thursday 15 January 20:00 - 22:00

A long time ago, in galaxies far, far away…

Note: the lecture takes place in the Zocherlounge, Zocherlaan 1, Bloemendaal

This lecture is in English.

Each month, we invite an expert to give a lecture on their field of expertise. The speaker explains one or more aspects of astronomy, meteorology, and/or space exploration and makes them understandable for a broad audience.

In this lecture, Lucie Rowland takes her audience to the cosmic frontier and shows how astronomers use light that is more than 13 billion years old to unravel the story of our cosmic origins.

About the speaker

Lucie is a PhD candidate at Leiden University and researches galaxies in the earliest phases of the Universe. Using advanced telescopes such as the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and ALMA, she studies extremely distant galaxies whose light has been travelling for billions of years.
