Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) will be visible
Saturday 12 October
In October 2024, Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) will be visible in the Netherlands! The comet is located close to the sun, which makes it difficult to see. It won’t be until October 12 that the comet will be far enough from the sun to be visible, but only for a short time, as it will set shortly afterward.
In the following weeks, the comet will move farther from the sun, but it will also become less bright. The best time to see the comet will likely be around October 20, because after that, it will be harder to spot with the naked eye.
Here in Overveen, there are two Friday evenings when the comet may be visible: October 18 and 25. If the weather is clear, we will be outside with many extra telescopes and binoculars to allow as many people as possible to observe the comet.
